Eva- Kathrin Ehmoser hat Biologie an der Universität Hannover studiert, ihre Doktorarbeit bei der Firma MERCK KGaA in Kooperation mit dem MPI für Polymerforschung, Mainz und der Universität Hannover erlangt. Einen Postdoktoratsaufenthalt an derm RIKEN Institut, Japan bei Prof. Masahiko Hara durchgeführt und eine Habilitation im Fach Biochemie bei Prof. D. Oesterhelt am MPI für Biochemie.

Nanoengineering: Eva-Kathrin Ehmoser ist Universitätsprofessorin für Nanowissenschaften und Institutsleiterin der Synthetischen Bioarchitekturen an der Universität für Bodenkultur, BOKU, Wien. Sie ist Gründerin des BOKU Spin-offs FREHM-MED e.U. mit dem Thema Aroma- Konservierung. Die Forschung an Biomaterialien erschließt ganz neue Anwendungsgebiete. Mit der Überschrift 'green chemistry' und Konzepten wie "Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD)", können neue Matrerialkonzepte für Forschung und Industrie entwickelt werden. Ein Methodenspektrum, das die nanoskopische Dimension beleuchtet, hilft bei der datenbasierten Entscheidung alternative, biologische Materialien zu verwenden. Ein prominentes Beispiel aus ihrem Institut ist die Verwendung von Bienenwachs und Baumharz als Trägermaterial für sensible, funktionelle Moleküle, wie Duftstoffe. So können auch Umweltgifte durch biologisch abbaubare und nicht-invasive Materialien ersetzt werden.
