Stellenausschreibung: Technische Universität Wien/post-doc university assistant

The Research Unit Quantum Metrology at the Atominstitut at the Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien) is offering a full-time position (40 hours/week) for a post-doc university assistant for a maximum of 6 years.

The estimated starting date is April 1, 2019.

Entry level salary as a postdoctoral researcher is covered by level B1 of the Austrian Collective Agreement for university staff, and receives a minimum of currently EUR 3.803,90 EUR/month gross, 14 times/year.

Requirements and Tasks:
A good PhD in experimental physics is formally required. We expect extensive experience in the field of quantum manipulation of spin systems in solid-state, atoms, ions. In particular, we expect experimental expertise in NMR, spectroscopy (optical as well as RF/MW), laser cooling, trapping and cooling of neutral atoms and ions. Special background in atom-ion collisions is preferable. We further hope for interest and experience in complex data analysis and interpretation, microelectronics, experimental control and automation.

We expect a sound and established scientific background and achievements, demonstrated through high-level publications, presentations at international meetings and experience in mixed international teams and projects. Contributions to research projects of the host group as well as applications for own research funding are expected.

The applicant exhibits excellent command of the English language together with communicative skills and team competences. We expect contributions to the teaching curriculum of the faculty of physics as well as support to bachelor/master/PhD students.
