University Assistant (Prae-Doc)

30 hours/week | limited to 4 years

At the Institute of Solid State Electronics, in the Research Unit of Optoelectronic Materials TU Wien is offering a position as university assistant (prae-doc) limited to expected 4 years for 30 hours/week. Expected start: August 2023.

Tasks:

  • Research in growth and characterization of the electronic structure of 2D materials
  • Angle- and spin-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements
  • Maintenance of ultra-high vacuum equipment (molecular beam epitaxy)
  • Teaching
  • Coding
  • Instrument automation (python)

Your profile:

  • Completion of a master or diploma curriculum in one of these fields: electronic structure, epitaxy, scanning probe techniques, ultra-high vacuum
  • Skillful and responsible in experimental work
  • Experience in the following scientific fields: electronic properties, photoemission, spectroscopy, growth
  • Very good skills in English communication and writing
  • Interest in research in the field as well as supervision and work with students
  • Very good communicative skills and team competences and innovative ability

Entry level salary is determined by the pay grade B1 of the Austrian collective agreement for university staff. This is a minimum of currently EUR 2,458.00/month gross, 14 times/year for 30 hours/week. Relevant working experiences may increase the monthly income.
