About us

With the initiative FEMtech the Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) supports women in research and technology and creates equal opportunities in industrial and non-university research. It is a particular concern of ours to provide increased support and visibility to women who are affected by other possible dimensions of discrimination, such as age, background, religion, disability, gender identities.

The BMK carries out activities to raise awareness, sensitize people, make them visible and promote the careers of women in research and technology:

FEMtech Expert Database

More than 2000 experts from over 130 fields are registered in the FEMtech female expert database. This makes it the most comprehensive database of female experts in Austria. Since 2005, FEMtech has been making female experts visible and supporting their chances of success in their careers. Are you an expert and not yet registered in the FEMtech expert database? Click here for your entry.

We make sure that the entries are up to date and promote the expert database to companies, conference organizations, media, etc. You are looking for project partners, speakers, jury members, or interview partners. The database of female expert supports you!

APA-Science

As a special service for all registered experts FEMtech offers in cooperation with APA-Science unlimited and free access to Austria's largest platform for education, science, and research. Simply send an email to science@apa.at with the subject "FEMtech". You will immediately receive your personal access data and will be included in the distribution list of the compact weekly overview of the most important education and research events. Of course, you can unsubscribe at any time.

FEMtech Expert of the Month

The "FEMtech Expert of the Month" award has been in existence since 2005. An independent jury from research, business, human resource management and media selects the expert based on three nominations. The FEMtech Expert of the Month is communicated in a press release by the BMK and distributed via social media channels. We visit the expert at her place of work and interview her about herself, her career, and her current field of work. You can become an Expert of the Month too!

FEMtech Network Meetings

Twice a year FEMtech organizes network meetings. These take place in Vienna and other locations in Austria. We inform about news in the field of funding focus and show current FEMtech topics. Afterwards, there is the opportunity for an informal exchange and for funding advice from the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG). Accompanying each network meeting, childcare will be provided.

FEMtech Publications

On the FEMtech website you will find current statistics and data on women in research and technology. We also list studies on the topic of "equal opportunities in research and technology". Studies are prepared and presented on the FEMtech website. You can find the current presentation here:

FEMtech has laid important fundaments in recent years. The role of women in research, technology and innovation has been extensively researched. In addition to FEMtech's activities to raise visibility, awareness and sensitization, targeted funding is also needed to create fair conditions for all genders in the Austrian scientific community.
